We played five matches, and despite some punts along the way, the deck cruised to a 4-1 finish, only dropping a tough three-game match to UB Control, where our opponent actually stole our Bolas's Citadel with Hostage Taker and used it to reverse combo by somehow having a pile of Enter the God-Eternals on the top of their deck. Let's start with the record: Golgari Citadel was pretty awesome.Just a quick reminder: if you enjoy the Much Abrew About Nothing series and the other video content on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish YouTube channel to keep up on all the latest and greatest. How easy it is to go infinite with Golgari Citadel in Standard? Let's get to the video and find out then, we can talk more about the deck! The end result is that we can play through literally our entire deck and then use Bolas's Citadel to drain our opponent out of the game by sacrificing our board. Even better, the exploration gets the extra lands on the top of our deck out of the way to help make sure that Bolas's Citadel doesn't fizzle. Once we have a Wildgrowth Walker on the battlefield, all of the creatures in our deck become free since we can play them from the top of our deck with Bolas's Citadel, and then we immediately gain back the life we spend to cast them with the help of Path of Discovery exploring and Wildgrowth Walker gaining us life whenever we explore. The main idea is to get down a Bolas's Citadel along with a Path of Discovery and then play through our deck until we find a Wildgrowth Walker or two. While we had a deck tech on a similar deck a few days ago, the build we're playing today has evolved to be even more focused on going infinite with Bolas's Citadel. War of the Spark is here! As such, we're heading into our new Standard format today for a deck that sort of walks the line between random midrangey good stuff and infinite combo: Golgari Citadel. Infinite mana+ Temur Sabertooth+ Eternal Witness+ Eladamri's Call= put all creatures in library onto battlefield Suggestions Infinite mana+ Temur Sabertooth+ Eternal Witness+card draw spell= draw whole deck Infinite mana+ Temur Sabertooth+ Eternal Witness+ramp spell= all lands in library onto battlefield Infinite mana+ Temur Sabertooth+ Eternal Witness+ Beast Within or Generous Gift= blow up all of opponents perminents Infinite mana+ Aggravated Assault+ Lightning Greaves= infinite combat steps to swing in with zacama Infinite mana+ Shivan Gorge+ Zacama, Primal Calamity= infinite damage to opponents Infinite mana+ Comet Storm= infinite damage to opponents Zacama, Primal Calamity+ Sanctum of Eternity+12 lands= infinite mana Zacama, Primal Calamity+ Temur Sabertooth+12 lands= infinite mana By far the best card draw spell in the deck Greater Good because if you have infinite mana it allows you to draw your whole deck. The rest of the deck is just centered around quickly ramping to play Zacama, Primal Calamity early and using cards like Garruk, Primal Hunter and Soul's Majesty to sift through your deck. You just have to restart the combo after each attack step. The third combo is the most complicated and uses Aggravated Assault to get infinite attack steps. the idea with this combo is to make infinite mana and then keep using Zacama, Primal Calamity's untap ability activating the land each time pinging your opponents to death. The second is slightly more complicated with Shivan Gorge. Basically you just make X really big and kick it three times. the first is through Comet Storm and its pretty simple. (this combo also works with Cloudstone Curio but it was outside of my budget)Īfter you have infinite mana the deck contains three cards that actually win the game. The way the combo works is that if you have Temur Sabertooth or Sanctum of Eternity + Zacama, Primal Calamity + 12 other lands you can use 2 mana to bounce zacama to your hand, then tap all of your lands floating 10 mana, after that, you use 9 of that mana to cast zacama untapping all of your lands generating 1 extra mana each time. This deck has 2 ways of generating infinite mana through Temur Sabertooth and Sanctum of Eternity. This is an upper-mid power Zacama, Primal Calamity built around using it's untap ability to make infinite mana and combo off.
